Prevention is Key

It can be hard to keep up in life when each day demands so much of our time, our attention and ourselves. The amount of stress we experience these days is continually increasing and can be the main contributor to our anxiety, fear, and general sense of being overwhelmed. But, just because stress isn't going anywhere doesn't mean you have to live with the negative effects that it causes. If you can learn to coexist with your stress the results can be transformative.

Though we're making progress, our society still has not realized how essential mental wellness truly is and, instead, tends to take the viewpoint that those seeking to improve themselves may be frail or weak. Overcoming the stigma around mental health can create a lasting change that may allow people to be more psychologically informed, equipped, and capable. Making it possible for you to get ahead of your problems. Prevention is key.

Mission

Our mission is to utilize a modern approach to mental health counseling that works from a philosophy of prevention. Through our counseling services we are educating and changing one mind at a time.

Many in our society are stuck in the old school mind set of showing strength by “sucking it up and getting over it”. Believe us when we say that there's a better, modern way to show strength. Starting anything new can be scary, but addressing your problems head-on, figuring out why you feel the way you do, and working towards feeling better will prevent countless stressful and undesirable situations from becoming big problems.

You know the famous quote by Mahtma Ghandi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Well, I want us to take it literally. We should each BE that change. I want to be that change for you, and I want you to be that change for yourself. I want you to understand how important it is to be proactive about mental health. I'm passionate about this because I 've seen it work. I've felt it work. & I believe wholeheartedly that this is the future of wellness.

I am Jaclyn Matthews, LMHC and I am so glad that you are here.

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

How I Got Here

I became interested in mental health because I needed answers. I needed to know why I felt like my life was so out of control. That’s because it’s natural to feel this way when we have so much on our shoulders and no one to teach us how to cope. I made the choice to live my life teaching people like me not just how to cope but how to be happy and enjoy life.

Since 2011, I have worked with hundreds of children, adolescents, and adults. Through my work, I've noticed how many of the severe symptoms and behaviors my patients were experiencing could have been avoided with a little attention and planning. Our goal has always been to help them accept themselves for who they are, build self-awareness, and realize that they can choose how they want to behave.
